Digital Twin for Quantum Networks
Invitation Code: RFP-24-02

Summary

Are you a distinguished academic involved in Quantum Network research? Cisco Research is actively engaged in designing and building a Digital Twin for Quantum Networks. Our team comprises scientists and engineers dedicated to advancing the forefront of quantum networking, with a particular emphasis on dynamic quantum entanglement distribution networks. In line with our vision, we are actively seeking proposals to build a suite of system and subsystem models at different network layers for quantum networks from the physical layer to protocols to upper layer and the control algorithms. These models are expected to complement Cisco’s existing quantum network simulation tool kits (Cisco's QNDK) and have the capability to maintain real-time connectivity with Cisco’s quantum network test-bed, enabling real-time behavioral modeling of an operational quantum network. We are particularly interested in the digital twin models for:

  • Physical layer of entanglement distribution network.
  • Protocol and control layer of entanglement distribution network.
  • Interfaces between network and various quantum computing platforms.
  • Interfaces between network and various quantum sensing platforms.
  • Entanglement-based QKD network elements, protocols, and key management systems.

Proposal Submission:

After a preliminary review, we may ask you to revise and resubmit your proposal. RFPs maybe be withdrawn as research proposals are funded, or interest in the specific topic is satisfied. Researchers should plan to submit their proposals as soon as possible.

Constraints and other information

IPR will stay with the university. Cisco expects customary scholarly dissemination of results and hopes that promising results would be made available to the community without limiting licenses, royalties, or other encumbrances.
