Gen AI Applications in Security
Invitation Code: RFP-24-08

Cisco Research is studying what the research problems are in developing, applying, and using AI/ML, Generative AI, and LLMs for security and privacy, as well as in helping the world solve foundational and hard research problems in this broad area.

The goal of this RFP is to solicit proposals that aim to conduct research and address the research challenges in this area. Specific areas of research include but are not limited to the following:

AI/ML for security and privacy

  • Development, training, finetuning, application, usage, governance, trustworthiness
  • Deep learning
  • Generative AI and LLMs for security and privacy
  • Foundation models, finetuning, customization, RAGs, small language models
  • AI/ML for security across the computing stack and breadth: data, software, hardware, firmware, users
  • Holistic and end-to-end security and privacy using AI/ML
  • Security Operations, Incident Response, Planning, Security Orchestration, Automation & Response
  • Security Analysis, Vulnerability analysis, Attack graphs

Proposal Submission:

After a preliminary review, we may ask you to revise and resubmit your proposal. RFPs maybe be withdrawn as research proposals are funded, or interest in the specific topic is satisfied. Researchers should plan to submit their proposals as soon as possible.

Constraints and other information

IPR will stay with the university. Cisco expects customary scholarly dissemination of results and hopes that promising results would be made available to the community without limiting licenses, royalties, or other encumbrances.
